A lot of times with repairs it’s as simple as turning off and turning it back on. When that doesn’t work, then you really have to dig deeper as to what’s going on with your device. Many may not know this, but pocket lint is a leading cause in issues we may think are more than they really are.

Have you ever put your hand in your pocket and could feel the lint at the bottom of your pocket, so you pick and pull it out? Well, that doesn’t always stay in your pocket. If you’re the type of person that likes to slide your phone into your back pocket, you can guarantee there will be lint build up over time.

pocket lintWhat this does is it wedges itself into your charging port and your aux port. Unless you’ve been deprived of your aux jack with the new iPhones, it’s bound to happen to anyone. Even then, you still have a port for something.

Having lint in your ports can cause issues such as: The cable won’t go in all the way, you have to wiggle your cable to hit that “just right” spot for it to charge, sound will only come out of one speaker or not at all, etc.

At first thought, you’d think maybe your charge port is bad, your battery is bad, or something else needs to be replace. I’m here to tell you that’s not always the case. It’s as simple as lint removal.

A lot of people will come in to our store saying that they’ve tried to remove the lint themselves. After looking into the ports we soon realize there are broken objects inside. Please, do not use toothpicks, q-tips, etc to remove this lint. You’re bound to end up having more issues in the end because of tips of broken objects inside.

Please save your time and your ports. Head over to our store and we’ll remove it for you for no charge. We’d rather your devices to work properly than for there to be items stuck inside.

However, we do occasionally see headphones stuck inside the aux port. Unfortunately those take a lot more time, but they are pretty cheap. A simple $25 fee to remove that because of the time and caution we have to take to make sure nothing gets damaged, but there are those rare times where the aux is damaged when brought in.
